BFGA Rifle Range Rules


1. This range is open to members and non-local guests only.


2. Members may host up to two non-local guests per day. Non-local guests will at all times be accompanied by and under the supervision of the member who brought them.


a)    Members are legally and financially responsible for their guests.

b)    Any one guest may use the range facility three times per calendar year, after that it is expected they would purchase their own membership.
c)    Guests must complete a liability waiver either prior to using the shooting range. Liability waiver may be found on the bfga.ca website or in the box marked "Liability Waivers" in the shooting building.

3. All appropriate Federal and Provincial firearms regulations must be followed while using this facility.

4. Users of this range will re-lock the gate upon entering and leaving the range.

5.  The first person to arrive at range will activate the "OPEN" sign and put up the flag.

 

6.  The last person to leave the range will lower the flag and activate the "CLOSED" sign.

7.  Users of the range must sign in and must display their membership card if asked by another member while at this range.

 

8.  If two or more shooters are present one must act as the Range Officer. The Range Officer has complete authority of the range operation and property.

9.  Practice proper muzzle control when entering and leaving the range building with any firearms not in cases/coverings.

10.  Only paper targets attached to the target boards within the target shelters are permitted on this range. Brooks & District Fish & Game may supply specialized targets.

11.  Brooks & District Fish & Game has supplied steel gong targets at some of the backstops. Only the disk/gong may be shot at. Shooting the housing or hanger is not permitted.

12.  Shooting at explosive targets, clay pigeons, cans, glass, rocks, steel plates or any other non-paper targets is not permitted. This includes any wildlife found on the range.

13.  Shooting may only occur from the provided shooting benches. This is the firing line. No shooting may occur ahead of the firing line.

14.  Only the designated target may be shot at from each shooting station. Shooting across this range or across another shooting lane is not permitted.

15.  Shooting the uprights (target board supports) is not permitted.

16.  When a cease-fire is called, someone is downrange or emergency services are called to the facility all shooting must immediately stop, all firearms must be immediately unloaded, magazines (if applicable) removed from the firearm, their actions left open and either laid on the bench with the muzzle pointed downrange, placed in the firearms racks on the east side of the building or returned to your vehicle.

17.  No one may handle their firearms or any part of their firearm when someone is downrange.

18.  This range is sanctioned for non-restricted firearms and restricted firearms only. HANDGUNS MAY ONLY BE FIRED OFF THE BENCHES AT THE 25 YARD AND 50 YARD TARGETS. NO EXCEPTIONS.

19.  Absolutely no firearms allowed downrange.

20.  Other than during approved special events, shotguns may only be used for sighting in or patterning purposes. Skeet, trap or sporting clays shooting is not permitted.

21.  The sporting clays station may only be used during scheduled sporting clays events approved by the Brooks & District Fish & Game Association Club and under the supervision of a Brooks & District Fish & Game Association Volunteer.

a)    During a approved sporting clays event the volunteer operating the pigeon thrower is the range officer and may set addition rules.
b)    Shooting during a sporting clays event may only take place from the "window" on the platform on the north side of the building.
c)    Only one shooter at time may shoot.
d)    Care must be taken to ensure the clay pigeons are only shot at when within the target area as marked by pylons or stakes.
e)    Only #7 1/2 or smaller lead shotshell ammunition may be used.

22.  While the range is in use for a sporting clays event, no other shooting activities may occur for the duration of the event.

23.  This range is not sanctioned for any firearm discharging .50 calibre BMG ammunition.

24.   The discharge of tracer ammunition/bullets is not permitted.

25.  Shooting before sunrise or after sunset is not permitted at this range.

26.  Shooters under the influence of mind-altering substances or liquor are not permitted on this range.

27.  The wearing of hearing and eye protection is recommended.

28.  Clean up your spent brass/casings, shells and/or targets after you are done.

29.  The range rules may be updated from time to time or modified during special events at the discretion of the Brooks & District Fish & Game Association Executive & Chairs.

30.  The range may be closed for maintenance, inspection, upgrades, special events, etc. at the discretion of the Brooks & District Fish & Game Association Executive & Chairs.

31.  Any persons involved in or knowing of a shooting incident involving injury or property damage shall immediately report it to the RCMP and a Range Operations Representative

32.  Violation of any of these rules may result in the suspension of range privileges and/or the permanent loss of membership.
